ACBC Certified Biblical Counseling
We are excited to provide this invaluable resource available through Kootenai Community Church.Biblical Counseling Philosophy
The counselors at KCC are not psychologists, psychiatrists, or other mental health professionals. A statement from Cornerstone Church in New Lenox, Illinois, best summarizes our statement on psychology:
“When psychology and other social sciences step beyond observing human behavior and seek to explain the causes of human behavior, they enter spiritual territory. Only the God of the Scriptures can explain causes and offer solutions that lead to godliness and a fruitful, joyful life.”
Policy on counseling minors: It is our overall philosophy that we primarily counsel parents to disciple and train their minor children. We would offer biblical counseling to minors (God’s Word applies to all ages), but we desire at least one parent (or other adult who is part of the child’s spiritual oversight) to attend the sessions.
Costs
We also have volunteer biblical counselors who do this as a ministry to the community. There may be a suggested donation for materials as part of the counseling process. For those employed by the Bonner County Sheriff’s Department, Kootenai Community Church offers biblical counseling at no charge as a ministry to our first responders.
