The Psalms

This series explores selected Psalms, starting with an introduction to the book of Psalms and its theological significance. It focuses primarily on Psalms 1, 2, 37, and 49, while also touching on imprecatory elements found in these and other Psalms. The series aims to help listeners understand the Psalms’ relevance for Christian life and worship today.

Hebrews: Jesus Is Greater

The book of Hebrews argues for the superiority of Jesus Christ over all the forms and shadows of the Old Testament. All the symbols of the old covenant find their fulfillment in the new covenant. Jesus is a better priest, shedding a better blood, with a better sacrifice to inaugurate a better covenant.

1 Thessalonians: Faith and Works in a Vibrant Church

Paul writes to the growing body of believers in Thessalonica.  He is delighted that they are advancing in their knowledge of Christ and in their love for one another and he encourages them to continue so that they may grow even more.

1 Peter: Rising Above the World

1 Peter was written to teach us how to remain faithful and content in the midst of the heavy trials of our mortal life on earth, this “time of your sojourn.” We are taught the purpose and character of trials, seeing in them the sanctifying work of the Spirit revealing the genuineness of our God-given and, therefore, invincible, enduring faith.

Galatians: Justification Is By Faith Alone

Paul wrote this corrective letter to the church in Galatia because the believers were being fooled by legalistic Jews in their understanding of grace; they were thinking they could add to God’s grace and gain His acceptance by keeping God’s ceremonial laws that He had given to Jews. Paul was teaching them and us as well that we are justified by faith alone and not by anything we can do.

James: Christianity in Blue Jeans

Written by the half-brother of Jesus, the book of James has been described as “Christianity in blue jeans.” Right theology must lead to right living. Otherwise, it is worthless. James gives us theology applied.

A Biblical Theology of Work

People spend nearly half of their lives working, yet for many Christians it is a source of pain and frustration. Is this the reality of living in a fallen world, or can my job have dignity and purpose? How does one serve Christ through their work, or is that only for missionaries and pastors? What is God’s purpose for work, and how does the Lordship of Christ reveal that purpose and unlock its value and eternal significance? This short podcast series explores these topics and more as we seek to construct a Biblical theology of work through a serious study of the Scriptures.
kccpodcast-1samuel

1 Samuel

kccpodcast-sundayschool-1timothy

1 Timothy: House Rules for God's Church

Paul wrote his first letter to Timothy so he would know, “…how one ought to behave in the household of God, the church of the living God…” (3:14,15). In doing so he laid down the apostolic foundation for doctrine and practice for the church at Ephesus and the Scriptural model for the true church for all time. The contemporary church, therefore, has no excuse for not doing God’s work God’s way.
kccpodcast-haggai

Haggai: Consider Your Ways

After 70 years of captivity, the Jewish exiles were freed by Cyrus the Great to return to Judah and rebuild their temple. Temple reconstruction and the worship of Yahweh was their priority, but they became distracted, apathetic, and self-concerned. Yahweh commissioned Haggai to rebuke the Jews, remind them of their priorities and to encourage them with the covenant promises of their God.

1 Corinthians: Failure and Fruition

The book of first Corinthians chronicles the early years of the church founded in court by Paul the apostle.  Their failures and their victories are laid out in great detail.  Paul uses their story to provide a template for church correction.

2 Corinthians: Sorrow and Exhortation

Paul continues his discipleship of the saints in Corinth.  Following his first letter, he saw some growth but he also saw continued deviation from the Word of God.  He defends his apostleship and points the Corinthians to Christ for their continued sanctification.

Philippians: Knowing Jesus, Knowing Joy

This is one of Paul’s prison epistles and is considered to be the book of “joy”. Paul wrote this book while suffering in prison in Rome. This letter brings forth the humiliation, incarnation, and exaltation of Christ. Paul urges us as Christians to grow in Christlikeness.

Midweek Bible Studies

kccpodcast-mwbs-tsabi

The Science and Art of Biblical Interpretation

God has revealed Himself to be all-powerful, holy, righteous, and true. Therefore His Word is inerrant, infallible, and authoritative.  In other words, the Bible comes with its own set of “operating instructions” based on the author and is the church’s sole rule for doctrine and practice, which includes hermeneutics. We will see how the prophets, apostles and Jesus Himself interpreted, preached, taught, and lived out the Word of God in dependence on and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

kccpodcast-the-history-of-doctrine-800

The History of Doctrine

For the past 2,000 years, Jesus has been sovereignly building His Church. He has used all manner of people, places, and events to shape the theological traditions that continue to influence people today. Travel back in time as we spend åfive months together tracing the historical development of theology, and gain a much greater understanding of those who have gone before. In the end, we will be sobered by the constant threat of error, while being motivated to take our place in the long line of faithful witnesses who have stood the test of time.

The Doctrines of Grace: God’s Absolute Sovereignty In Salvation

An in-depth study of the Doctrines of Grace often referred to as Calvinism or Augustinianism, and the five points in which they teach: Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace, and Perseverance of the Saints, affectionately known as TULIP.
